HITSZ Brief Profile

Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen (HITSZ), established in 2002, is a full-fledged branch campus of Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), offering undergraduate, graduate, and part-time programs. Located in China's high-tech hub, HITSZ comprises 10 schools and 4 research centers, with a strategic focus on cutting-edge fields such as information technology, intelligent equipment manufacturing, new materials, artificial intelligence, and smart cities. The university is deeply integrated with Shenzhen's innovation ecosystem, providing critical technological and talent support to local industries, which has earned it strong recognition and backing from both the Shenzhen municipal government and its parent institution, HIT.

HITSZ boasts a highly international and elite faculty: over 500 full-time teachers, 80% of whom have overseas study or work experience, and 90% recognized as high-level talents by municipal or national programs. The campus is a powerhouse for research, housing 52 key laboratories, engineering centers, and public platforms at or above the municipal level. It has accumulated over 2.1 billion CNY in research funding and has established partnerships with more than 800 Shenzhen enterprises, solving over 1,400 major technological challenges. Bachelor Degree Program (Undergraduate)

  • The basic length of study for undergraduate majors is 4 years (5 years for architecture majors). The longest length of study is the
    basic number of years of schooling plus 2 years, that is 6 or 7 years.
  • When submitting your application, please ensure that you fill in two choices. This may allow for an alternative option should your
    first choice not be accepted.
  • If your first choice is not accepted, we may allocate you to a major based on your second choice. Please adhere to the principle of
    separating Liberal Arts and Sciences when choosing your second choice. If your first choice is for an "Liberal Arts" major, your
    second choice should also be for an" Liberal Arts" major. Similarly, if your first choice is for a "Science" major, your second choice should
    also be for a "Science" major.
  • Students who have chosen "Liberal Arts" majors for both their first and second choice must take an online mathematics exam.
  • Students who have chosen "Science" majors for both their first and second choice must take an online mathematics and physics exam

Admission Requirements

  1. Nationality
    Applicants must be foreign nationals (not citizens of China). For applicants who were previously Chinese citizens and later obtained foreign citizenship, our university follows the regulations outlined in the Ministry of Education Document [2020] No. 12.

  2. Age Limit and Qualification

    • Applicants must be under 25 years old and have graduated from high school.

    • In Good health physically and mentally.

  3. Academic Qualifications 

    • Passport home page (MUST Valid beyond September 30th, 2025);

    • High school diploma or degree certificate (the expected graduation certificate can be acceptable, but the original graduation certificate must be submitted at the time of registration);

    • Official transcripts

    • Language Proficiency Certificates:
      • Applicants applying for Mandarin-taught programs must provide a valid HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) certificate with the following minimum scores:
        • School of International Studies (Bachelor’s Program): HSK Level 4 (New HSK), with a score of 180 or above.
        • Other Bachelor’s Programs: HSK Level 5 (New HSK), with a score of 180 or above.
        • Applicants whose native language is Mandarin or who completed secondary education in Mandarin may be exempt from the HSK requirement, subject to verification and approval by the university.
        • Applicants applying for English-taught programs must provide one of the certificate with the following minimum scores:
          • TOEFL≥ 80, IELTS≥ 6.0 or Duolingo English Test ≥ 90;
          • Or Official English Proficiency Statement from the high school if available;
    • A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (usually issued within six months before the application
      submission date)
    • Non-criminal record report (valid within 6 months);

    • Bank Statement (at least CNY 20,000 or equivalent foreign currency);
      • Payment receipt of application fee (Screen Shot);
      • Proof of outstanding academic achievements, sports, cultural exchanges, art, public welfare activities, etc. (not mandatory).
      No certificates when applicant’s first language is English.

Application Process

Step 1: Applicants must register and log in (using computer is recommended) to the Harbin Insitute of Technology, Shenzhen Campus International Student Service Platform (website: hitsz.at0086.cn/student) during the designated application period, fill in personal information, upload required documents, and complete the entire application process online.

Step 2: Pay Application Fee

✅ Admission Fee Requirements:
Students must pay application fee of 400 RMB (non-refundable).

1. Please put “name” on “姓名” section;
2. Put“11111”on“学号”section;
3. Put “400” on “交费金额” section;
4. Put “Application fee” on “交费备注” section
(if someone else paid for you, please put
applicant’s name on it as well);
5. Screen shot the payment receipt.

Step 3: Upload application fee payment receipt and submit application online

Step 4: Keep track of admission result. Admission Notice from HITSZ will be issued to Qualified applications after final submission.


Scholarships

HITSZ currently offers the following scholarships for outstanding international students:

  • Both Guangdong Government Outstanding International Students Scholarship and Shenzhen Universiade
    International Scholarship are one-year scholarship with limited quota. Shenzhen Universiade International
    Scholarship will be determined in April to May each year and Guangdong Government Outstanding
    International Students Scholarship will be determined in June to August with off-line application
    procedures. Students can apply one of these scholarship with HITSZ Scholarship.
  • HITSZ Entrance Scholarship will be applied and determined during online application; Scholarship status will be reviewed according to students’ performance at the end of the first academic year.

Fee Structure

  • Application Fee: 400 RMB
    (Not required at the time of application; waived for applicants receiving the Chinese Government Scholarship)

  • Tuition Fees:

  • Dormitory check-in procedures is after university registration;
  • The dormitory fees are not including Utility and WIFI fees.
  • University dormitory is for students to live in only. And the number of room types is limited. First come,
    first served. Please book online as soon as possible after being admitted, and arrangements will be
    made based on the student's booking situation.
  • According to relevant regulations in China, international students shall be covered by designated
    insurance during their study and stay in China.
